Would recommend looking up on how to practice a "system only restore" on your specific device if there are no other password recovery options available to you. This process should not be data subversive and won't impairment whatsoever data on the device. According to WD's site, a "System Only Restore" would reset the following settings:

  • Device name (Default = MyPassport)
  • Admin Username (Default = "admin")
  • Admin Password (No password by default)
  • Network Mode (Default = DHCP)
  • SSID of the device (Default name = My Passport (2.4 GHz) - xxxxxx, and My Passport (5 GHz) - xxxxxx)
    • (xxxxxx = last 6 characters of the device'south MAC addresses)
  • SSID password (Default = last 8 characters of the device's serial number)
  • Bombardment (Default = Performance)FTP (Default = off)
  • Drive Lock (Default = off)Auto Import (Default = off)
  • Car Firmware Update (Default = off)
  • SSH (Default = off)
  • Plex Media Server uninstalled while not removing any Plex libraries or configuration

This may not reverberate on your device 100% then brand sure you're looking at the right support page.
And again, "Organization Only Restore" is what you'd desire. Non the "System But & System and Deejay" as the latter will essentially reformat the disks.

^^This. The password is there for a reason - it's so that if someone steals the device they cannot get access to the content. At that place is no backstairs, quick fix or workaround.

When y'all've set the device up again, y'all might want to apply something likeKeePass v2 to store the countersign for futurity use.

You lot are stuck. You need to keep a encrypted file which has your passwords including the WD one. And yous need to back up data then if that drive fails then you still take information technology.

Your just hope is to recall dorsum to the time you set it upward and see if you can think the type of  passwords then.

Not to exist a luddite or anything, simply it wouldn't hurt to invest l bucks in a small rubber to proceed in your role or home, and in that you lot maintain a small physical notepad where you write down all your important passwords.

Just a thought.
